How to Help

Your Dollars and Food Donations Sustain Our Operations

Please join our efforts to create a no-food-waste movement in the Omaha area. When you contribute to Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue, you help ensure our neighbors have access to healthy food and you help us educate the public about ways to reduce food waste.

Your donation to Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue supports our operations to pick up excess perishable food from local grocery stores, restaurants, caterers, and other food purveyors and deliver it the same day to our nonprofit partners that feed some of the most challenged children, seniors, veterans and families in our community.

  • A $50 donation provides healthy meals for 250 hungry neighbors.
  • A $100 donation pays for two months of routine truck maintenance.
  • A $500 donation pays for fuel for one month for one of our refrigerated trucks.

Please send checks to:

Food Purveyors

Restaurants, Caterers, Cafeterias, Grocers, Delis, Food Brokers, Special Event and Wedding Planners – BECOME A FOOD DONOR and help us help the less fortunate members of our community!

Ask your favorite food partners what they do with their excess edible food. Ask your caterer to place smaller trays on the buffet so excess that has not been served can be rescued. Let them know about Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue!

Criteria for Food Donations:e

  • Food to feed a minimum of 20-25 people, in order to curb our truck expenses.
  • Excess food must have been properly maintained (refrigerated or frozen) and held in the kitchen without being served due to health regulations. We do not accept food that has been opened to the public. Please consider using smaller serving trays so we can rescue more of your excess food.
  • Please give us as much advance notice as possible. We do not warehouse food; it is delivered the same day we receive it. Our pick-ups are made during morning hours with deliveries to our local non-profits feeding our hungry neighbors that afternoon.
  • If you have an evening function where there may be excess food, please make arrangements to refrigerate the food overnight; we will collect it the following morning.

Thank you! Spread the word and encourage food donations!
