The Great Food Makeover – A No Food Waste Fest

serving-soupThis October 8, 2016, public celebration around solutions to food waste was presented by Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue and sponsored by Farm Credit Services of America. Head chef Kevin Newlin of The Salvation Army Kroc Center and other local chefs created a hearty autumn stew using produce that otherwise would have been wasted or plowed back into the fields.

Their creation showcased how vegetables that may not be cosmetically perfect are still fresh, nutritious and delicious. The family-friendly event also included cooking demonstrations by local chefs, music, children’s activities, and interactive displays designed to educate visitors about food waste and inspire them to take action at home and in the community.
