CEO Interview Focuses on Food Rescue and Wasted Food

Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue is helping raise awareness of wasted food beyond the Omaha area. In November, Beth Ostdiek Smith, CEO and founder, was a keynote presenter at the Sustainable Food Management Summit hosted by Wichita State University’s Environmental Finance Center. She later was interviewed for an article that was posted on Wichita State’s website.

“When you say ‘food rescue’ to people, they don’t really understand that,” Beth said in the interview. “They think that we’re another food pantry. We explain that we are a distribution system that picks up and takes food to pantries, shelters, after-school programs and senior centers. We match the food that we rescue with the needs of the various organizations that provide the food to those who need it.”
